2012 NY K-POP Festival Open Concert Contest

Korean Cultural Service New York is reaching out to the world through diverse activities, such as 2011 NY K-POP Contest in Central Park. Continuing from last year’s success, Korean Cultural Service New York (KCSNY director Woo Sung Lee) is once again hosting the New York K-POP Festival in response to the growing attention towards K-POP culture.

The application process will be held online from July 23rd, 2012 to August 10th, 2012. Contestants are given the opportunity to choose a song famous celebrity groups from three major South Korea entertainment companies. Song selection must be from SHINee (representing SM), Big Bang (representing YG), and Wonder Girls (representing JYP). All participants, who are residents of the U.S., can showcase their passion for and talents in singing, dancing, or both.

From July 23rd to August 10th of 2012, online preliminary entries for the first round of the New York K-POP Contest will be accepted and judged by the panels selected from KCSNY. From the initial selection, nine contestants will be selected to perform live on August 31st, 2012 at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

Additionally, K-POP fans can not only enjoy zealous performance at the New York K-POP Festival, but they can also experience unique K-POP program(TBA).
