Chinese workers honored for transcontinental railroad 145 years later

U.S. Department of Labor on Friday hosted a public ceremony to mark inducting of 12,000 Chinese railroad workers, who worked between 1865 to 1869 in the country, into the agency’s Hall of Honor. The ceremony was attended by Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez, Deputy Secretary of Labor Christopher Lu, as well as descendants of the Chinese railroad workers. « more »

McDonald’s and Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) celebrated Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by presenting a special cultural show at JHS 189 Daniel Carter Beard Junior High School in Flushing. Hosted by Ronald McDonald®, the program showcased a mix of traditional and modern performances by local Asian American artists which included Korean drumming, Indian dance and Chinese acrobatics.
