New York Mayor Bill de Blasio Friday will name Daniel Nigro, a former chief of the fire department, to be its next commissioner. Nigro will replace Salvatore Cassano, who was appointed commissioner by Mayor Michael Bloomberg in 2010.

In Nov 2013, AsianinNY co-host “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” and the concert had successfully raised $10K for The Breezy Point firemen! Comptroller, John Liu, Congresswoman Grace Meng, Assemblyman Ron Kim and New York City Council member, Peter Koo‘s representative Thomas Chen all attended the event in support of raising funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The Breezy Point firemen, who were the first responders at the 9/11 terrorist attack, many of them are victims of the Hurricane Sandy. Their houses were burned down and now they are homeless. Fire Chief during 9-11 recover Mr. Daniel Nigro expressed his gratitude toward Taiwanese community and sent two firefighters, Lieutenant Timothy Keenan and Firefighter Eric Vanzanten, to attend and accept the donation of $10,000 in support of and recovery from Hurricane Sandy.
