2nd Annual “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” Concert

Flushing, New York, Nov 5th – New York City has long been one of the leading centers of indie music movement.  Within it, Taiwanese musicians are also in the scene making music and hoping one day in reaching to the top.  Thus, organizers including AsianInNY.com, Passport to Taiwan Festival, and Tai-Ke New York have put together an impressive line-up of exceptional musicianship to showcase 4 Taiwanese bands with a rock concert along with many delicious Taiwanese snacks and drinks on November 19th from 7:30pm~11pm at the Taiwan Center in Flushing.

Last year, the local Taiwanese communities held a concert named “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” in the Taiwan Center located in Flushing New York with four Taiwanese indie-bands based in the Greater New York area.   The concert provided a platform for the bands to perform while the fans got to listen to many amazing Taiwanese bands perform for a night of rock-and-roll, a cultural night to be remembered together before the Thanksgiving festivities.

Following rave reviews and feedback from last year’s audience, this year brings another line up of four terrific bands.  They are Coda Resistance, Bikini Carwash, Exit Clov and Torpid May Taiwan Beer is onboard as a sponsor, an appropriate match to the event.

Flushing is where many of the Taiwanese immigrants settle when they first arrive in New York, and Taiwan Center was established to be the community hub for all Taiwanese events.  Though the concert is only in its second year, the organizers wish it to be an annual tradition to provide an opportunity for the indie bands to showcase their music and for the younger generation to unite, celebrate and network.

The Admission for “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” concert is only $8 when pre-purchase online with fast admission and $10 at the door.  Doors open at 7:00PM.  Taiwan Center is located on 137-44 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY 11354.  For more info, you can view the video from last year: http://www.youtube.com and follow us at www.facebook.com/HelloTaiwanRocks

About the bands:

Coda Resistance: Somewhere between the scenes of mainstream Manhattan and hipster Brooklyn, there’s a new scene rising, and in the middle of it all is Coda Resistance. Blending the best parts of Indie-Punk & Modern Rock with socially conscious lyrics, their mix of infectious riffs, hooks and melodies will remind you why we all sold our souls in the first place. https://www.facebook.com/codaresistance

Bikini Carwash: An old-fashioned rock ‘n’ rock band at heart, New York City’s Bikini Carwash just wants you to have a good time. They specialize in joyful bursts of jewel-toned, punky pop goodness that make audiences smile and shake their booties. The five-piece outfit operates under the premise that life is hard enough—if you’re going to make and perform music, why not have the most fun possible? As vocalist Lizzie Steelheart promises at every show, Bikini Carwash will lather you up and hose you down! www.facebook.com/bikinicarwashrocks

Exit Clov is a 5-piece indie rock band with members from Washington, DC, and New York City. Ever since forming in late 2003, Exit Clov have developed a signature sound that is kaleidoscopic, pop & eclectic, consisting of female vocals, string arrangements, synth, and an infectious, energetic rhythm section. In addition to the Cover Boy 7″, Exit Clov have released the Memento Mori LP, four EPs to date and a single, “District Menagerie.” exitclov.com.

Torpid May Formed in 2009 in New York City by three long time friends, combining elements of pop,  grunge, noise, punk and ambient rock, Torpid May creates a melodic sound that is at times delicate and coarse, somber and affecting, dreamy yet stern.
