Malan Breton Offers Fantôme

On February 14 @ 10 AM at the Metropolitan Pavilion South. Malan Breton will show his Fall 2012 Runway Collection entitled Fantôme. His inspiration for the women’s collection is Transparency. For his Malan Breton HOMME Collection he has chosen James Bond 007 for his muse.

“I want to show that what is on the inside of a woman makes her beautiful on the outside.” Malan explains.
Jellyfish is used as a metaphor for Transparency; this free-swimming fish is graceful and translucent. The collection is ethereal and flowing. It is about inner strength, and the internal system. He uses Old English tailoring for construction, and some corsetry.

The Malan Breton Homme Collection is inspired after James Bond 007. “Mr. Bond instills confidence, intelligence, and Savour fare. ” states Malan. He continues to use his signature Chinoise fabric. It is a special silk with flowing metallic treads. Malan’s colors for men this season are strong Blue and Red.

Malan Breton was born in Taipei, Taiwan and currently lives in New York City and Paris. He has been designing since age 11. His mentor was Arnold Scaasi — he debuted his first women’s collection in 2005. His quest to find modern silhouettes in suiting and sportswear inspired, Malan Breton’s HOMME Collection launched in 2010. The collection will be accented by cufflinks by 13 Ost.

He was the subject of a six part series on Bravo TV entitled “The Malan Show” and a contestant on Project Runway Season Three. He has also designed the Primetime Gameshow “Minute to Win It” on NBC which received him a nomination for the WGSN Global Fashion Award.

His flair for fashion and celebrity are revealed in his weekly column for “OK Magazine”, entitled: Malan’s Musings.

His gowns are repeatedly seen on the red carpet. Some of the celebrities he has dressed are: Minnie Driver, Kathy Lee Gifford, Michael Buble, Nolan Gerard Funk and many others. ‘)}
