Museum of Chinese in America Honors Fashion & Design Game Changers at Annual Legacy Awards Dinner

Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is pleased to announce the program for the Annual Legacy Awards Dinner. The theme of this year’s gala is a celebration of the game changers in fashion, style and design, and is inspired by the Museum’s Spring 2013 exhibition featuring notable Chinese American fashion designers. Honorees of this year’s Legacy Awards are Silas Chou (President and CEO, Novel Holdings Group), Angelica Cheung (Editor in Chief, Vogue China), Calvin Tsao (Architect, Tsao & McKown), and fashion entrepreneurs Humberto Leon and Carol Lim (Co-Founders, Opening Ceremony and Creative Directors, Kenzo). The evening’s emcees are playwright David Henry Hwang and actor BD Wong.

The Gala Co-Chairs are Thomas C. Ahn, Michelle Koo, Patricia P. Tang, and Theodore T. Wang.

Taking place at Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street in New York City), the event begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 pm followed by the dinner and awards program at 7:30 pm. Attire is formal black tie, festive Chinese dress optional. There will be a featured performance by Dana Leong Trio. A live auction will also take place during the dinner.

Special guests for the evening comprise members of the Gala Committee, including Sharon Bush, Gina Lin Chu, Amy Fine Collins, Lucia Hwong Gordon, Chiu-Ti Jansen, Harold Koda, Valerie Steele, with fashion designers featured in MOCA’s Spring 2013 exhibition. The exhibition’s featured designers in attendance are: Thomas Chen, Melinda Eng, Derek Lam, Wayne Lee, Phillip Lim, Mary Ping, Peter Som, Vivienne Tam, Yeohlee Teng, Zang Toi, Vera Wang, and Jason Wu.

Also in attendance will be representatives from Bloomberg; Citi Private Bank; Columbus Hill Capital Management, LP; East West Bank; Goldman, Sachs & Co.; The Mount Sinai Medical Center; Thaw Charitable Trust; TIFFANY & CO.; and Verizon.

Individual tickets to the event are $1,000 and $1,500. Table purchases range from $10,000 to $100,000.
