Hideki Matsui to retire on Sunday

Former Yankees star Hideki Matsui is set to retire as a Yankee on Sunday, when he will be honored by the team with “Hideki Matsui Bobblehead Day.”

Hideki played for the Yankees between 2003 and 2009 after 10 seasons of playing in Japan for the Yomiuri Giants. He went on to play for Los Angeles, Oakland and Tampa Bay, but recently signed a one-day contract with the Yanks’ minor league team so he could retire in pinstripes.

The 2009 World Series MVP will be honored during a ceremony for the first pitch on Sunday, and the first 18,000 fans through the gate will get a Matsui bobblehead. ‘)}
