United States Representative Grace Meng was attacked and robbed Tuesday evening in the Eastern Market area in D.C.

Meng said she had just said goodnight to a friend she had dinner with in the neighborhood about 8:30 p.m. when she was attacked from behind.

Meng, is a lawmaker representing parts of Queens, including Bayside and Flushing. She is the first Asian American elected to Congress from New York. At age 32, she was the first Asian American woman elected to the New York State Legislature. She has supported AsianInNY events numerous times! Thank God Meng was not seriously injured! ‘)}
