MUSEUM OF CHINESE IN AMERICA's FIRST ANNUAL LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) hosted its first ever Lunar New Year dinner at the Museum. The celebratory evening was instrumental in raising funds to support education, one of the core pillars of MOCA’s mission. MOCA serves over 200 schools within the tri-state area, and more than 10,000 students annually.

The festive celebration was kicked off with an auspicious lion dance performance by United East Athletics Association, followed by the dinner program at 8:00 pm. During the cocktail hour, there was a featured live performance by ensemble Music From China. The dinner was helmed by beloved chefs, Kian Lam Koh, Pichet Ong, and Irene Khin Wong, who presented a gastronomic experience paying tribute to Lunar New Year’s cultural and culinary traditions.

This year marks MOCA’s 5th year anniversary at the 215 Centre Street location. Since 2009, the Museum has been the national home for the narratives of Chinese American communities. Within the Museum’s 14,000 square foot space, MOCA presents exhibitions, festivals, tours, workshops, public programs, and conferences to advance its core mission.

Special guests for the evening included: Anla Cheng, Tom Finkelpearl, Lisa Phillips, Ang Lee, June Jee, Peter Little, Mimi Gardner Gates, Patricia P. Tang, Clara Wang, Jeff Xiong,and Gina Xu.

The dinner’s host committee members included: Danielle Chang (Founder, Lucky Rice), Kevin D. Eng (Co-Founder, Columbus Hill Capital Management, LP), Michelle Koo (Philanthropist), Maya Lin (Artist and Designer, Maya Lin Studio), and Theodore T. Wang (Managing Director, Goldman Sachs).

The presenting sponsor of the event was Goldman Sachs. The Signature sponsors were Kian Lam Koh, Lucky Rice, Maya Lin Studio, Pichet Ong, and Saffron 59. The cocktail sponsor was Mizu Shochu. ‘)}
