Since 2013, the Overseas Community Affairs Council has actively promoted the Overseas Quality Restaurant (OQR) selection program and awarded restaurants the OQR emblem so that outstanding Taiwanese restaurants can be easily recognized by the overseas Taiwanese community and friends of Taiwan. This year, a jointly-organized 2014 Time for Taiwan-Restaurant Month event will be held to showcase the high quality restaurants that passed the evaluation. There will be a wide selection of Taiwanese cuisine and special offers and meal discounts available to give the general public the chance to sample some delicious Taiwanese dishes, and to get to know the restaurants offering these culinary delights!

The 2014 Time for Taiwan-Restaurant Month will be officially launched on May 25. 35 Overseas Quality Restaurants (OQR) located in six main U.S. regions of Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., Houston, Los Angeles and San Francisco will be serving up tasty dishes. Fans of Taiwanese cuisine are invited to visit any of the restaurants with the OQR Emblem and enjoy the culinary feasts on offer!

Apart from gastronomic delights, during the event duration, if you upload a photo of a particular dish you enjoyed or “like” your favorite dish’s photo on the event’s webpage, you will have a chance to win a prize from a major Taiwanese brand: e.g. round trip plane tickets between the U.S. and Taiwan, HTC smartphones, Merida folding bikes, popular restaurant chain coupons and discount vouchers as well as other fantastic prizes!
