The ROC Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hosts International Youth Ambassadors Exchange Program

The 2014 Youth Ambassadors delegation from the Republic of China (Taiwan), led by Ambassador David Nanyang Lee , arrived in New York on Sept. 9th and are expected to stay through the morning of the 13th. The delegation, in addition to participating in two cultural performances, will take part in a student exchange with Hunter College and meet local politicians.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York’s Ambassador Paul Wen-liang Chang, on the first day the delegation arrived in New York, held a press conference to welcome the mission.
The Youth Ambassadors Delegation has been very successful, which has prompted this year’s expansion of the organization. A total of eight groups were selected this year to visit 36 cities in a total of 32 countries, during a three-week exchange. The North American and the Caribbean groups visited New York, Toronto and Chicago. The carefully choreographed performances by the delegation will introduce Taiwan’s rich and diverse culture to foreign friends, and give the world a better understanding of Taiwan.

The head of the Youth Ambassadors delegation, Ambassador Lee said this year’s Youth Ambassadors delegation is unlike previous year. These outstanding young talented students not only assume the task of promoting the soft power of the Republic of China, but also will help other countries to better understand how Taiwan can play a role in the international community. The purpose of the mission, on the one hand is to train the next generation to enhance their international outlook, and on the other hand to promote international understanding of the Republic of China. ‘)}
