MOCA's 35th Year Anniversary

The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is pleased to announce the program for the Annual Legacy Awards Dinner. This year’s gala pays tribute to Icons and Innovators for their philanthropic contributions in the fields of Hollywood motion animation, education, and finance. As the Museum enters its 35th year preserving and presenting the history, heritage, culture and experiences of people of Chinese descent in the United States, the gala is also a celebration of over three decades of commitment to the Chinese American community and its future generations. Over the last 35 years, MOCA has served over a million visitors. Honorees of MOCA’s 2014 Legacy Awards are Tyrus Wong (artist and Disney illustrator of Bambi), Victor and William Fung Foundation Ltd. (educational charity), and Theodore T. Wang (Goldman Sachs and philanthropist). The evening’s Masters of Ceremony are CNBC’s FastMoney host Melissa Lee and actor BD Wong.

The Gala Co-Chairs are Thomas C. Ahn, Kevin D. Eng, Michelle Koo Hayashi, and Patricia P. Tang.

Taking place at Cipriani Wall Street (55 Wall Street in Manhattan), the event begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 pm, with a special performance by PS. 124 Theater Club, Yung Wing Elementary School, followed by the dinner and awards program at 7:30 pm. Attire is formal black tie, festive Chinese dress optional. The dinner menu will feature a special dessert creation by internationally acclaimed chef and former Legacy Award honoree Pichet Ong. There will be a special guest appearance by Cole Horibe (lead actor as Bruce Lee in David Henry Hwang’s Kung Fu).
