MUSEUM OF CHINESE IN AMERICA NAMES NANCY YAO MAASBACH AS PRESIDENT/ DIRECTOR

The Board of Trustees of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Yao Maasbach as MOCA’s President/Director. She will assume her new role in February 2015.

“We are looking forward to having Nancy Yao Maasbach lead the Museum,” said Patricia P. Tang, Chair of MOCA’s Board. “After an extensive national search, it was clear that Nancy’s proven executive leadership and non-profit expertise would help drive MOCA’s innovative growth as the Museum enters its next chapter.”

“I am thrilled to begin my journey as a member of the MOCA team and look forward to working with MOCA’s highly-committed Board and dedicated staff,” shared Nancy Yao Maasbach. “The Museum has accomplished a great amount over the last thirty-five years. What a privilege it will be to continue to shape MOCA into a renowned cultural institution and a national home for Chinese American narratives.”

Most recently, Nancy served as the executive director of the Yale-China Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to building U.S.-China relations through programs in arts, education, and health. Prior to Yale-China, she served as the managing director of Corporate Programs at the Council on Foreign Relations where she had also been an International Affairs Fellow in Japan and a Research Associate on China. Nancy worked in Goldman Sachs’ investment banking division and executive office in Hong Kong and New York. Nancy was an Associate Producer at CNN during the handover coverage of Hong Kong to the People’s Republic of China in 1997. She has a degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs with a minor in Chinese language from Occidental College and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. Nancy served on the national board of the Association of Asian American Yale Alumni and President Obama’s 100,000 Strong federal advisory committee. She is currently the co-chair of The Community Fund for Women & Girls in Greater New Haven. ‘)}
