China Airlines NexGen 777 Cabin Design Wins Golden Pin Design Award

China Airlines has won the 2014 Golden Pin Design Award for “Best Design of the Year” with its NexGen 777 cabin design. “New Chinese Style” is the theme of the Golden Pin Design Award Exhibition and in winning this top design award for the global Chinese-speaking market, China Airlines will now represent Taiwan at the 2015 London Design Museum Design Award to be held in the U.K. and showcase the cultural aesthetics of Taiwan.

The Golden Pin Design Award has been held in Taiwan for 33 years and is known as the “Golden Horse Award of Design”. The Award aims to bring the best design ideas and creations to the eye of the general public. As the leading airline in Taiwan, China Airlines wanted to bring the best of Taiwanese culture aboard its aircraft as well so passengers can feel, hear, smell and taste Taiwan the moment they step into the all-new 777 cabin and eventually fall in love with Taiwan itself.

At the award ceremony for the Golden Pin Design Award held on December 11, the best designs of the year in the four categories of product design, packaging design, visual communication design and interior design were announced. The medal-winning entries of the Golden Pin Design Award will be exhibited at the Taiwan Design Pavilion in the Songshan Cultural & Creative Park through to January 25, 2015. More than 400 entries from Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore will be on public viewing until then. China Airlines will put on its display seats from the three classes aboard its 777 aircraft. The Sky Lounge will also be shown on the ground for the first time. Visitors are welcome to come and experience the next-generation changes at China Airlines.

The China Airlines 777 cabin is designed around Song Dynasty aesthetics and the moment you step into the cabin you will notice the persimmon wood-grain, a first in the world. This together with the mood lighting creates a unique ambience aboard the aircraft. The cabin includes Premium Business Class with 180-degree fully-flat seats, Premium Economy Class with wider seat pitch and fixed backs, but also the first Family Couch seating in Asia that converts seats into a sofa fed for a whole new level of comfort. There is also the Sky Lounge that provides travelers with a leisure space and serves as a platform for Taiwanese culture. The fusion of Oriental and Western cultural philosophy in this traveling space showcases the amazing cultural creativity of Taiwan as well the serene dining culture of Chinese scholars to create a new and sophisticated style of travel.

Aboard the new China Airlines 777-300ER aircraft, passengers will not only experience the award-winning cabin space design but also software features such as Wi-Fi service, the industry’s most advanced Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, and free mid-air “Seat Chat” social networking service that transforms the entire passenger aircraft into a large flying chatroom. China Airlines has now taken delivery of three 777-300ER with a fourth scheduled for January, 2015. The China Airlines Fleet will then grow to 94 aircraft in total. ‘)}
