YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BAND confirmed for Modern Sky Festival

Following the hugely successful 2014 US launch of the Modern Sky Festival in New York—as well as eight years of explosive growth at home—Modern Sky’s namesake music festival expands to two American cities in 2015, bringing a wide-ranging musical and arts gathering to New York City’s Rumsey Playfield in Central Park on October 4 and Seattle’s Mural Amphitheatre October 11.

Today Modern Sky announces the addition of YOKO ONO PLASTIC ONO BAND to the New York version of the festival.

In 1966, Yoko Ono created a conceptual band with four plastic stands with tape recorders in them instead of human musicians. Through the years, human members were added to PLASTIC ONO BAND, each time a different lineup with Yoko Ono always at its core.

In 2009, Ono revived PLASTIC ONO BAND. Since then she has recorded two critically acclaimed albums and performed a number of spectacular concerts worldwide.

Yoko’s current art and music exhibition at MoMA, Yoko Ono: One Woman Show: 1960-71, runs through September 7 and features a special PLASTIC ONO BAND music room.

On October 4, Ono will be joined in Central Park by some very special New York guests, performing songs from throughout her career.

States Ono, “I am so glad that I have been asked to do the Modern Sky Music Festival in Central Park. Central Park was where John, Sean, and I always went for a walk. I still do. It’s the most lovely park in the world, I think.”

Tickets for the Modern Sky Festival NYC are on sale now. Price: $48 General Admission, $150 VIP modernskyfestivalnyc.com ‘)}
