In collaboration with the PEN World Voices Festival, László Földényi, Sophie Calle, and Wayne Koestenbaum will explore the role melancholy plays in a well-examined life. Földényi, the author of the book Melancholy, will look at the melancholic disposition as a source of energy and creativity. Calle, the French writer, photographer, and installation and conceptual artist, will address melancholy through the lenses of vulnerability, identity, and intimacy. Koestenbaum, an American artist, musician, poet, and cultural critic, will delve into the creative power of melancholy as a tool for self-reflection and insight. A neuropsychological perspective will be provided Dr. Gayatri Devi. The program will be followed by a book signing with Földényi.
