A night of Taiwanese food, drinks and 4 live bands at the Fifth Annual “Hello Taiwan Rocks!” Concert will be rocking New York City on Nov 29th from 7-10pm at Taiwan Center in Flushing New York (137-44 Northern Blvd, Flushing, New York 11354). This year, we have also added the popular Taiwanese culture, Taiwan Night Market, to bring you some Taiwan’s most iconic snacks such as sausage oden, oyster thin noodles, bubble teas and so on to enjoy while the attendees watch the performance on the stage and to help celebrate Thanksgiving weekend. « more »

The Queens Historical Society Announces 27th Annual Holiday House Tour

Many halls will be decked with many boughs of holly during the 27th Annual Holiday Historic House Tour on Sunday, December 7, 2014. The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) is pleased to announce the program for the Annual Legacy Awards Dinner. This year’s gala pays tribute to Icons and Innovators for their philanthropic contributions in the fields of Hollywood motion animation, education, and finance. As the Museum enters its 35th year preserving and presenting the history, heritage, culture and experiences of people of Chinese descent in the United States, the gala is also a celebration of over three decades of commitment to the Chinese American community and its future generations. Over the last 35 years, MOCA has served over a million visitors. Honorees of MOCA’s 2014 Legacy Awards are Tyrus Wong (artist and Disney illustrator of Bambi), Victor and William Fung Foundation Ltd. Crossing Art, in conjunction with the Queens Library Foundation is pleased to present, “The View Over Here: Constructing Cultural Identity,” an International Juried Exhibition to support the Queens Library Foundation. The opening reception and fundraising event will take place on Friday, November 14 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Crossing Art. A portion of the proceeds from the opening will be donated to Queens Library: International Commons, a new borough-wide initiative which will expand the Library’s award winning programs and services for new Americans and promote cultural activities that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of all Queens residents.
